Dive Site: The Nebo

Location: Aliwal Shoal, Umkomaas, South Africa

Depth: 30 metres (100 feet)

Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)

The Nebo struck Aliwal Shoal in 1884 in fair weather and went down with its cargo of railway material with no lives lost. She lies in 30m of water, still fairly intact. The wreck is home to an abundance of reef and pelagic fish.

This is a really nice site, especially because you can find there really big groupers. Since the Nebo went down it has been quite smashed by the surge. The hull is broken and just a few pieces of the stern are intact.
