Scuba Diving in Sharm El Sheikh, Red Sea
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Ras Katy
Location: Near Ras Um Sid, Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt
Description: Lovely shallow dive, popular for open water dives
Depth: 15 metres max (50 feet)
Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)
Rating: ****
A nice dive to get you back in the swing of diving after a break. This was where I did my first open water dive, but on my return trips has been where I've been on my first day diving in Sharm.
A lovely shallow dive, plenty to see, the dive guide showed me where the mantis shrimp lived and he even managed to make an appearance on cue.. A lovely bimbling dive often done in the morning before diving Tower.

A great dive site, particularly at night. Watch out for the herds of lionfish as you cruise around the coral heads and gardens. Morays are often seen, especially the free swimming giant moray. You even get Anthazoa coming out (looks like yellow star corals) in their pretty displays and many of the overhangs contain soft corals, occasionally gorgonias.

Nice and easy dive site usually used for check dives and OW courses. Big problem is the 'submarines' which are really just big glass bottom boats which come very close to the reef, right over you and have no regard for divers. It can be quite crowded with boats at times.
