Scuba Diving in Coron, Palawan, the Philippines
Dive Site: Twin Lagoons
Location: Coron Island, Palawan, Philippines
Depth: 0 - 10 metres (0 - 30 feet)
Visibility: 10 metres (30 feet)
The Twin Lagoons are located just around the corner from Barracuda Lake and may be conveniently visited on the same day. As the name suggest, there are two lagoons. The first you can reach by boat, and the second is hidden away, accessible only by a small opening that just shows above the sea level. The topside scenery is stunning and the 'tunnel link' between the two lagoons gives the site that extra bit of interest. The reef is nothing special, but there are a few shoals of fusiliers and some barracuda around. It is possible to save a bit of air in your tank from Barracuda Lake and use to to complete a 20-30 minute dive here, or alternatively you can just snorkel. You won't really need to go beyond about 5m. There are some interesting haloclines in the water that distort the visibility, suddenly causing it to drop. It cost PHP75 per person to visit the lagoons in Jan 2009.
