Scuba Diving in the Poor Knights, New Zealand
Dive Site: Barren Arch
Location: Poor Knights Islands, New Zealand
Description: Reef dive
Depth: 10 - 20 metres (30 - 65 feet)
Visibility: 27 metres (89 feet)
Rating: ***
This dive begins by swimming up and over a ledge that leads you through an archway that is home to a lot of nudibranchs. From here you head along a wall covered in kelp with shoals of damoiselles flitting past. When we dived here there wasn’t much in the way of marine life on the wall. We ended up in a large open cave that can be seen from the surface. As you turn around to swim out of the cave be sure to stop to look at the blue water and the silhouettes of damoiselles against the sunlight.
