Scuba Diving in Gran Canaria
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: The Kalais
Location: Just outside Las Palmas, Gran Canaria
Description: Wreck
Length: 100 metres (325 feet)
Depth: 25 - 30 metres (80 - 100 feet)
Visibility: 15 - 30 metres (50 - 100 feet)
Rating: *****
This is an amazing wreck as it sits upright and mainly intact on the seabed. The Kingposts are still in position making a dramatic sight, surrounded by damselfish as you descend. The holds still contain the cargo of cement bags, but at the back the engine room was fully accessible and still is full of gauges, switchgear, valves and machinery. We swam around the stern and watched an angel shark on the sand below. The decks are at 25m so you get lots of time, and the huge shoals of fish on the wreck give the true feeling of a 'living reef'.
